Williams @ Western Alamance

The varsity soccer team played at Western Alamance High School on October 13th, 2009 in one of the most exciting high school soccer matches I've ever played in, spectated, or coached. The game began as it normally would against our in-county rival, end-to-end action. At the end of regular time that game was nil-nil and stayed that way through the first period of overtime. The game winner in the second period of overtime was the most brilliant goal I've ever seen live. Check it out here!

2009 Season

We started the 2009 season with injuries plaguing us like no other. With injuries and our tough non-conference schedule, we started slow with a record of 2 wins, 3 losses, and 2 ties. However, we finished the season with a 17-5-2 record and a 4th straight trip to the playoffs in my tenure at Williams.

We are graduating 11 players which will be hard to replace. They leave Williams a very decorated class. In 4 years, this class has put together an overall record of 64-20-7 and a conference record of 39-4-1. They were conference champions in 2007, 2008, and a 2009. They put together a playoff record of 9-4, with an exciting run in 2008 to the semi-finals of the state playoffs. On an individual level, this class has had 5 all-conference players and the conference player of the year with 3 honorable mentions. Moreover, we've had three 2nd team all-region players, a first team all-region player, the region player of the year and an all-state player. Overall, at least 8 players from this graduating class have received some recognition either on the local, regional, or state level. What an amazing class to be blessed with in my first year of coaching!
